Welcome to Pattengill!

Joining the PTA is an excellent way to stay informed and take an active role in shaping the educational programs, policies, and decisions that affect your child’s learning experience. We warmly invite everyone to attend our meetings and share fresh perspectives and ideas.

Meetings & Participation

PTA meetings take place on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Pattengill Media Center.
A virtual meeting link is available to all registered PTA members.

Our Impact & Community Events

The Pattengill Elementary School PTA depends on membership dues, donations, and community fundraising to sustain all of our initiatives. Our annual Fun Run in October serves as our primary fundraiser. Thanks to these contributions, we are able to support vital school resources and programs, including:

Student assemblies and enrichment programs
Classroom stipends for teachers
Media Center funding and enhancements
Sponsorship for 5th-grade camp

We also host fun family events throughout the school year, such as the Fall Festival, Trunk or Treat, Reading Night, and the Ice Cream Social.

Stay Informed: Attend monthly PTA meetings to receive firsthand updates on school activities directly from the PTA board, Principal, and Teacher Representative. As an added benefit, PTA members receive access to meeting agendas, minutes and other information and updates through the PTA email distribution list.
Flexible Participation: The PTA appreciates all levels of involvement. Whether you are able to volunteer at a school function or simply support from afar, every contribution is valued.

Committee Information

Committees serve as the foundation of our PTA. We rely on community support to host many wonderful events across the school year! We offer a wide range of committees with flexible commitment levels, ranging from event planning roles to day-of volunteer opportunities. Any amount of time you can contribute is sincerely appreciated.

School Events & Activities

Book Fair: Coordinates with Scholastic to host bi-annual book fairs (fall and spring) at Pattengill.
Craft Night: Divided into fall and spring teams; committee chairs handle event planning, execution and event communications.
Fall Festival: Organizes an entertaining evening featuring games and food to welcome students and families to the new school year.
Field Trips: Assists teachers in organizing and executing grade-level field trips throughout the year.
Fifth Grade Celebration: Manages year-end festivities for 5th graders, including the graduation ceremony, clap-out, yard signs, and Anderson t-shirts.
Ice Cream Social: Hosts a sweet year-end celebration featuring games, food, and classroom raffle baskets.
Picture Day: Volunteers assist with escorting classes to and from photos and ensuring students are photo-ready.
Reflections: Acts as Pattengil’s liaison for National PTA’s flagship arts recognition contest.
Spirit Days: Selects spirit day themes for the school year and shares details with the Pattengill community.
Trunk or Treat: Volunteers decorate vehicle trunks to create a fun trick-or-treating experience for students.
Women’s Career Day: Coordinates a dedicated day for female professionals to present about their careers to Pattengill students.

Fundraising & Community Support

Caring & Sharing / PTSA: Coordinates the annual initiative providing holiday gift cards to local Veterans and families in the Berkley School District.
Dine to Donate: Identifies participating local restaurants for monthly dining fundraisers, managing coordination and community outreach so a portion of meal sales supports the PTA.
Fun Run: Leads the PTA’s primary annual fundraiser where students gather pledges and participate in a grade-level run/walk around the school grounds.
Spirit Wear: Promotes Pattengill apparel to the school community and serves as the liaison between the vendor and the PTA for orders.

Student & Family Programs

Birthday Table: Creates and manages lunch schedules for families celebrating a birthday or half-birthday with their student.
Kindergarten Welcome Bags: Assembles and distributes welcome bags for incoming kindergarten families during Kindergarten Roundup.
Penguin Mascot: Wears the Patty the Penguin costume for appearances at major PTA functions like the Fall Festival, Fun Run, and Ice Cream Social.
Student Appreciation Week: Plans special activities and events to celebrate and honor Pattengill students.
Welcoming Committee: Organizes playground meetups for new TK and Kindergarten families before the school year begins.

Staff Support & Appreciation

Founder’s Day: Organizes an annual celebration honoring PTA founders and recognizing outstanding PTA members, teachers, and school staff.
Room Parent Coordinator: Serves as the liaison for room parents, sharing updates on door decorating, classroom parties, and raffle baskets, while coordinating end-of-year teacher gifts via GiftCrowd.
Staff Appreciation Week: Plans dedicated appreciation events to thank Pattengill teachers and staff for their hard work.
Teacher Lounge & Conferences: Keeps the teacher lounge stocked with snacks and organizes meals for teachers and staff during conference days.

Operations, Communications & Advocacy

Bulletin Board: Maintains and updates the PTA hallway bulletin board throughout the school year.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Promotes DEI awareness within everyday school events, commemorative observances, and broader educational initiatives.
Lost & Found: Helps organize the school lost and found area and posts periodic photo updates to the PTA Facebook page.
Marquee Sign: Updates the outdoor school marquee sign with announcements and upcoming event schedules.
Membership: Maintains membership records and tracks PTA participation across the school year.
Nominating Committee: Recruits and vets candidates for future PTA leadership roles.
PTA Meeting Childcare: Arranges childcare coverage during general PTA meetings to support parent attendance.
Social Media: Manages membership requests and reviews posts for the official Pattengill PTA Facebook page.
Tech Committee: This is a new committee that is focused on understanding how technology is used throughout the district and classrooms.
